The Republic of Theodia (English (RP): [θeɪ.'oʊ.ɾi.ə]; English (Theodia): [θɛi.'ɜɵ.ɾi.ɜ]; Theodian: [ˈpu.bliˌjo̞ɾi] PubliYodi), commonly called Theodia, is a federal, repositocratic, technocratic republic. It is a micronation consisting of two realms, one of which governs Theodia's lands on Earth (Terria), and the other of which governs Theodia's lands in Minecraft (Mentia). Theodia's Terrian claims are located in North America and the Indian Ocean. Its capital, Lemuria, is located in Mentia.
The Republic of Theodia is classed as a sixth-world nation under the Boodlesmyth-Tallini System. On the Dresner Scale, Theodia scores a 2.8; on the revised Linden Scale, it scores a 3.8. Theodia's EPI (Economic Potential Index) score is a 1.3, and its democracy rating on the Matthew Scale is 4.9.
Theodia was founded on 2010's April 22nd, and declared its independence from the United States of America on 2010's October 22nd. Its small population have a unique culture and language, and comprise one of the few societies that don't have gender-roles.
This article was current as of 2013 December, and reflects Theodia as it was at that time.
Etymology & demonym
'Theodia' is derived from the Old English word, 'þēod', which means 'nation' or 'people'; and the suffix '-ia', which is a morpheme that connotes 'region' and 'country' in modern English, and which was chosen somewhat arbitrarily.
The demonym for a citizen of the Republic of Theodia is "Theodian". The adjectival and archaic verbal forms are also "Theodian".
It was once proposed to rename the country to "Dautschland". This was derived from "Theodia"; <Th> went to <D> and <eo> to <au>, <tsch> was added to make it German-like, and <land> was added because it was a more Germanic suffix than <ia>. Had this occurred, citizens would have been 'Dautschlanders', the adjectival form 'Dautschlandic', and the language 'Dautschlandish'. This was proposed for the sake of uniqueness; 'Theodian' is used by more than just the Republic of Theodia, like in Dungeons & Dragons, where it refers to a race of magical partiers. This name change would also have provided unique forms for citizens, adjectives, and the conlang, as opposed to all being "Theodian". More, it would have strengthened Theodian ties with germanicist movements such as the Saxon Empire, Theodia's closest ally at the time.
Ultimately, it was decided to keep the name 'Theodia'. The distinctions between citizens, adjectives, and the language were deemed acceptable with all being 'Theodian', and the marginal benefits of maintaining the name 'Theodia' were considered to outweigh those of switching to 'Dautschland'. Further, Germanicism in Theodia has been on the decline since the waning days of the Tyrian Banner, and it has largely been completely absent since the inception of the Cerulean Banner, rendering the final of the 'Dautschland' arguments null. Indeed, in modern Theodia, the '-ia' ending is considered a more relevant statement in language politics than 'Dautschland' was, due in part to '-ia's similarity to Spanish, which plays a significant role in the Theodian lexicon, and due otherwise to the general cross-linguistic portability of the suffix.
The following is a list of words for 'Theodia' etc. in different languages:

This was the first period of Theodia's history, covering the time from Theodia's founding on 2010's April 22nd, to the Rebirth, which occurred in 2011's March. It was in this period that Theodia declared independence from the USA on 2010's October 22nd. The Time of the Tyrian Banner occurred primarily during the Late Lethlerism and Post-Lether Eras. This period is known colloquially as the time of the 'Purple Flag'.
Theodia's foreign policy at this time was noticeably more involved than under the Golden Banner. At times, it has retrospectively been considered bordering on interventionistic. Notable reasons for why Theodia involved itself in various intermicronational affairs included discouraging war and protecting history. It also helped found the Runic Union alongside West Germania, now the Saxon Empire.
Theodia was founded as a kingdom under Hir Grace, King Sven Bradsson Schroeder I (now Swena), and was throughout this period largely a one-person nation. Internal policy was fairly uneventful for awhile, and generally had a politically realist and monocultural theme to it. The development and introduction of the elemental party system was the country's first major political innovation. Tiered religious legislation was also developed, designed to utilize taxes to encourage conversion from belief-systems less compatible with the dominant one, a system inspired by a similar one used in medieval Islamic societies. Although they were both conceived under the Tyrian Banner, neither of these were finalized until the true ratification of the first constitution, which occurred under the Golden Banner.
The economy of Theodia was almost entirely dependent upon subsistence farming with pineapples. A physical national currency was developed, but never got to be used.
The technology present in Theodia in this period was very much that which was present in America at the time, with the exception of language. Theodia devoted large amounts of time and research into linguistic relativism and linguistics in general, with the goal of developing a national language that would strengthen national unity and improve the ability of Theodians to think. The ancient Milic Runic script was refined almost to its current state, and was the standard writing system for Theodian, except for a short time when the Runic Union's universal script was standard.
Early Theodian was spoken rarely, and was dramatically different from modern Theodian. The English used was also notably more archaic than modern Theodian English.
Religiously, Theodia was a mixture of Atheist, Neopagan, Liberal Protestant Christian, and Catholic. The religious legislation, which depended upon an in-place economic framework, was never enforceable. There were no reports of religious conflict during this period.
There was very little art produced during this time. For the most part, the official runic script was seen as the country's foremost art, and a calligraphic font was developed for it.
This was the second period of Theodia's history, covering the time from the Rebirth in 2011's March to 2012's September 1. It occurred primarily during the Era of Tension and the Inter-Summit Era, ending a little into the Settled Era. This period is known colloquially as the time of the Golden or Orange Flag, and is often characterized as a transitional period between Theodia at its founding and Theodia as it is today.
Theodia's foriegn policy under the Golden Banner was a little more reserved than it was under the Tyrian Banner. The Kingdom for the most part handled all of its foreign affairs through the Runic Union and the OAM, with the exception of its diplomatic embargo of Istoria and cession of Underwoodia. Theodia also founded the SIH (Society for Improvement of Humankind), which was a think-tank designed to rethink society.
During this period, internal policy was formalized for the first time in Theodia's history, with the ratification of the country's now-void consitution on 2011's June 20th. It revised the elemental party system devised under the Tyrian Banner, sortiting representatives via a complicated system of meritocracy and demarchy. A lot of attention was paid to preventing ethnic unrest and corruption of representatives.
After the Tension Era, Theodia started to fundamentally rethink itself, and work began on developing a new model of legislation. The Kingdom, along with the SIH, came up with a parent-child model of legislation, with child codices organized by subject, developed with open source-code, and released quarterly. A rudimentary legislative programming language, 'GOV', was developed for it, as were modlevels (in-line editing-restrictions) and optlevels (amount of research required to change a line), although these latter two were developed about a week or so into the time of the Cerulean Banner.
Theodia refined its national currency and began plans to implement an online economy which was to be managed using advanced statistical algorithms which aren't practical with physical currencies, and lot of attention was paid to implementing a demurrage tax, such as was used in Great Depression Austria. Each province was to set its own tax rates and have its own currency (to be backed by the national currency). Some preliminary programming work in Python was done on the economy by Axel-Nielson.
At the period's start, Theodia expanded all over the Web 2.0 Internet, but by the end of the period, much of the country's 'enfrastructure' was crumbling. A lot of research was poured into government, the economy, linguistic relativism, and Linux throughout this period. The main Theodian directory system was redone, and important documents sorted and stored in it, with plans to host it on an FTP server, using ACL's to prevent unwanted writes.
During this period, the Theodian language changed greatly, and often. It frequently changed completely from one version to the next, eventually becoming somewhat stable in the form of what is known as Late Theodian. The old Theodspraughsk pages went into disuse, and were abandoned. Theodian English was similarly unstable, and gradually became increasingly similar in orthography to American English.
Throughout this period, the culture of Theodia gradually shifted away from germanicism, a trait that had been rather important at the country's founding. This had some influence on Theodia's foreign relations and the makeup of the Runic Union.
This was the third period of Theodia's history, covering the time from 2012's September 1, to 2013's July. It occurred exclusively during the Settled Era, and was characterized by the death of Axel, the beginning of repositocracy as a political idea, and the end of the Theodian monarchy.
Theodia's foreign policy took a few sharp turns in this period. M. Axel was expanding the country's foreign affairs ministry and coordinated a treaty with Lostisland before hir death in 2012's September. Axel's death meant the loss of most of the development that had occurred in the Ministry of FA, and in the absence of a foreign policy structure and people able to man it, Theodia's Ministry of FA lied dormant until M. Naropa (now Narba) took office in 2013's June.
Theodia's internal structure began to calm down from the turbulence of the Golden Banner, and the country settled upon repositocracy for its legislative branch. Quing Sweyn78 (now Swena) set up a simple structure organized around hirmself for the executive branch, but expressed concerns with monarchism which eventually would lead to the country's transition to a republic.
Theodia remodelled its federal divisions to support participation in multiple sectors, and Mentia was repurposed into a realm for Theodia's Minecraft territories. Quing Sweyn78 began planning and modelling a capital city in Minecraft, and also began developing a micronation-centric Minecraft server called 'Governcraft'.
Theodia had essentially nothing for an economy during this period. Many of the pineapples that in previous periods were essential for the country's GDP were lost, and there existed no economic infrastructure within the country which people could use to exchange. However, there was some progress in economic thought, and Theodia settled upon its current dual-currency model, as well as decided to implement minimum vacation days and to not implement a price floor on labour (a minimum wage).
Theodia revived its Facebook and Google+ pages during this period, as well as greatly improved its Microwiki articles. The main website, however, remained in its outdated form from early in the time of the Golden Banner.
The Theodian language gained a clear objective and an increasingly clear methodology, seeking to utlize phonosemantics to derive lexemes. Plans were made to govern a formal version of the language with a repositocracy, using a Thirdly release cycle with support for Extended Support Releases. Lastly, the writing system was moved to an IPA-style a priori script, generated from simple rune-like forms on a chart organized by place and manner in the sonority hierarchy.
The culture of Theodia too expanded notably, and the society picked up polyamory, dozenal numbers, ternary logic, abolition of gender roles and fallacious race, an improved calendar, and the Ergonometric system.
This is the fourth and current period of Theodia's history, covering the time from the transition to a republic in 2013's July to the present. It began in the Settled Era of the Microwiki community, and is the current Era of Theodia. It has thus far been characterized by notable progress in government and infrastructure, but has still been pre-codification. With the opening of this Era, Theodia adopted a new flag to represent the republic, which became known as the 'Banded Banner' or, colloquially, the 'Bar Flag'.
Throughout this Era, Theodia's foreign affairs have been fairly stagnant, apart from internal reform. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was replaced with the Ministry of External Affairs, which is composed of two departments: Foreign Relations, and Intelligence. Theodia also agreed to mutual recognition with a couple micronations during this period.
It was generally expected by the Theodian populace that a legislative development hub would be operational within a few days of the transition, but Founder Swena (the framer of the new constitution) soon realized that the legislative kernel module couldn't truly be completed without a formalized system of devolution. Such a system was conceptualized about a month later, inspired by those of the medieval feudal system. More, the executive was reformed, the naming policy was revamped, and the equipment of the military was standardized. In 2013 November, a Coat of Arms scheme for Theodian territories was developed. Around the same time, the notion of "fake votes" was added to the country's range-voting system in order to prevent the "unknown fanatic victory" scenario; the ratio of fake votes (all of wich are '4' on a 7-point scale) are 1:36::fake:real. Many other aspects of the legislative sytem were likewise reformed. Even so, the legislative development hub is still unfinished, as is the repositocratic kernel module, both of which are essential to the nation's political system. The various advancements in Theodian structure and policy that have occured under the Banded Banner will need to be officially cannonized at some point in order to become seriously legitimate.
Theodia's national website was overhauled at the start of this Era, designed to utilize the Webs.com SiteBuilder v3, as well as refine the functionality of the website for modern Theodia.
The culture of Theodia continued progressing, notably adopting as its own the conical Asian hat. More, the first official rules for the national sport (battlegaming) were written. Significant progress was made on the Theodian language, with many conceptual issues finally ironed out, the phoneme inventory simplified, and the grammar increasingly formalized. The national Kalendars were corrected, as well as expanded to accomadate locations other than Earth's Northern Hemisphere. The Ergonometric sytem's notation for time was likewise improved.
Government & politics
The Republic of Theodia officially has two branches of government: Legislative, and Executive. Overall, it can be considered federal, repositocratic, and technocratic.
Currently, both branches are in legacy operation.
The government is legally bootstrapped by a minimal constitution that includes a lightweight parser for Govscript, which is a scripting language based on GOV, a legislative programming language begun in 2011. The main purpose of this constitution is to unambiguously initiate the Kernel, which then loads all active kernel modules. These kernel modules are what define the basic structure of the government itself. Normal legislation and things are then loaded by appropriate kernel modules.
The blob of active legislation generates a registry hive similar to /sys in a UNIX-like system. This operates in a chroot jail and will be available on a server, thus allowing applications to easily read current values. This also streamlines interpretation of laws.
- Heads of state & government
Swena (the founder and previous quing) currently acts as indefinite benevolent dictator and head of state in order to keep the country alive in the absence of other active citizens, but the government is designed to function without hirm, and once se abdictates, hir position will not be refilled.
However, certain fallback modes of operation depend upon having a head of government to coordinate them. If the founder and head of state is unpresent or wishes to have another act in hir place as head of government, the country elects a president with a seven-point preferential voting scale, subject to national recall. Consecutive terms are disallowed unless there are no other candidates for the presidency. Terms normally last for a year, and elections occur in the last couple weeks of a fiscal Third. In the event the head of government is somehow removed from hir position, the next in line receives office (the next in line being whoever earned second place in the original election), and an election is held the next Third.
- Legislative branch
Note: the legislative kernel module is still under development, meaning that the government's structure is yet uncannonized. The following passage presents only a sketch of how the system may end up working.
The legislative branch of the Republic of Theodia operates under a Repositocracy. Its current implementation may be considered meritocratic, demarchial, hierarchial, multicameral, and technocratic.
In this system, there are to be several repositories of legislation: Approved, Proposed, Rejected, and Portage. Legislation in Accepted has sufficient positive relation with the population of Theodia; Accepted is also the only repo from which legally active legislation can originate. Legislation in Proposed has not yet earned either sufficiet positive or sufficient negative relation to be moved into either Accepted or Rejected; legislation in Proposed must also meet legislation quality standards. Legislation in Rejected has significant negative relation with the population of Theodia. Legislation in Portage is legislation that does not yet meet the requirements to be in one of the main repositories; it is primarily composed of potentially interesting legislation from other jurisdictions.
Legislative quality standards are requirements that all legislation must meet in order to enter Proposed or a dependent repo (Accepted, Rejected). They will include a requirement for the legislation to be written in GOV, as soon as it has a stable release.
All citizens of the Republic of Theodia are allowed to submit legislation into Proposed or Portage; they may also rate legislation on a 7-point scale. All votes are automatically weighted per one's knowledge of the topic in question. A legislative development hub, commonly referred to as a "legis devel hub", is under construction. It will feature convenient ways to discuss, rate, report bugs in, make suggestions for, submit, and fork legislation, as well as keep all submitted legislation well-organized.
There exists also a Senate, which is tasked with legislating. The reason for this is so that the country does not stagnate in the absence of a large number of politically interested citizens. Legislation that the senate creates automatically starts out in Accepted, but it can like any other legislation be moved into another repo via ratings. The senate, however, does not have the ability to choose what legislation becomes legally active.
Throughout each fiscal Third, a number of people work on selecting and consolidating legislation from Accepted into a legally active Codex. The way that this is done is via a hierarchy of juries. At the bottom of the hierarchy are Selection Juries, who comb through Accepted legislation and select the legislation they believe to work best for the country. Each Selection Jury is highly specialized to a particular area of study, such as for example Fiscal Policy or Monetary Policy. Above them are the less specialized Assembly Juries, who ensure that no conflicts exist between selected legislation and that all dependencies are met. In the event of a conflict, the Selection Juries who chose the conflicting legislation are notified, and the two work together to pick one of the two (or an alternative). It is important to note that no jury members are allowed to edit legislation, and that no Assembly juries are allowed to specifically choose legislation. All jury members are to be experts in their respective fields, and a number of other factors are likewise taken into consideration when sortiting potential jury members.
There is also a fallback operation. In the event that there are not enough willing citizens to manage the full bureaucracy, the Selection Juries are replaced with single people, and become tasked with assembly as well (there are therefore no "Assembly Juries" in fallback operation).
Should there not be enough willing citizens to support fallback mode, the current head of government is given veto power, and hir ministers take over the duties of the juries. This is known as legacy operation, due to its merging of the legislative and executive branches, which resembles the late Theodian monarchy.
- Executive branch
Note: the executive kernel module is still under development, meaning that the government's structure is yet uncannonized. The following passage presents only a sketch of how the system may end up working.
The Theodian executive branch operates as a demarchial technocracy, and has no true single leader. The branch as a whole is tasked with the country's executive, judicial, and management functions. Legislation sets which ministries and departments are in existence, as well as the duties and whitelisted abilities of each. In Theodia, ministries are actually just groupings of departments, and are not themselves staffed. Each department is managed by an EJ (Executive Jury). The EJ's themselves may formulate their own operational policies so long as they remain compatible with active legislation. EJ's occaisionally are allowed by legislation to set the values of certain policy variables (these are called 'dynamic variables', or 'DV's). In order for a quantitative DV to be set by an EJ, there must be a specific threshold and default for it defined in legislation; qualitative DV's do not have this requirement.
In the event that there are not enough willing citizens to operate the executive branch's essential bureaucracy, the current head of government may select ministers to run enabled departments. These ministers are subject to recall votes by the populace, in which case they cannot be brought back into office until the citizenry votes to recant their recalling. This is known as fallback operation.
If there are not enough people to manage even this, the executive branch takes up an amorphous form, in which all ministers are eligible to participate in all functions of the executive branch, limited only by the current head of government and the possibility of recall. This is known as legacy operation.
In the past, the executive branch operated under a monarchy. The current quing selected hir cabinet, and they selected those who were to work under them. All who were selected had to be meritocratically qualified per active legislation, and the citizens of Theodia were able recall unpopular cabinet-members. The executive branch under the monarchy is the model for the modern fallback presidential system.
Theodian policy historically has been for the most part non-formalized, with about the only exception being the old constitution. Currently, the country is preparing its legislative development hub, and a few prominent Theodians are readying several new bills.
In the meantime, the country has developed a rather amorphous system of laws that are more de facto than de jure, and derived largely of tradition -- similar to the systems that existed in many historical societies around the world. In the event that order is breached, all citizens may weigh in on what to do with the criminals, resulting in typically one of three actions: Complete forgiveness per the circumstances, a request to make things right, or a cessation of citizenship.
- Essential rights
You may say whatever you wish, and assemble with whomever you please.
- Corporeal rights
It is not allowed to kill anything for sport, anger, or frivolty. You may not torture anything. Formalized animal combat is illegal. Livestock may not be raised for slaughter on arable land. You may not have sex with someone who is unwilling or outside the range given by "half your age plus seven".
- Love & sexuality
As gender roles do not exist in Theodian culture, homosexuality is not thought of as abnormal, and is therefore completely accepted by the society. Transsexual and intersex people are also comfortably accepted, and are seen as having medical conditions that they should not be ashamed of.
Due to the nature of Theodia's polyamorous society, there is no particularly regular way to handle marriage and childcare. Usually, all involved parties figure things out among themselves. If this is not possible, the community often helps to decide. On death, inheritance typically passes to the community as a whole if not otherwise requested.
The military of Theodia operates under the Department of Defense, a part of the Ministry of Stability. It is entirely composed of volunteer militia. Its equipment is standardized, but the government does not have the resources to provide equipment to prospective armsmyn; so the standards are presented as recommendations. All units are amphibious and wear typical Theodian clothing and armour, which leaves them well-adapted to the hot, marshy environment of Southwestern Florida, Theodia's hearth.
The current General of the Theodian Military is Havier, who has studied at West Point under the US Army. Saiyko serves under hirm as a captain, and is in charge of aircraft, for se has a pilot's license. Since the Min-Def (Ministry of Defence) does not currently have a minister, the military answers directly to the current head of government.
To date, Theodia has been blessed to have never been engaged in a combat situation.
The Republic of Theodia has a fairly low-profile Ministry of External Affairs, which is divided into two departments: Foreign Relations, and Intelligence. The former is charged with conducting relations on behalf of the Republic; the latter is charged with gathering useful information on other countries to assist Theodia in making internationally informed decisions.
The majority of the treaties Theodia has ratified have been simple statements of mutual recognition, although there are notable exceptions, such as the treaty with Lostisland and the country's cession of Underwoodia.
Theodia's membership in supramicronational organizations such as the GUM has been fairly limited, being that the country has only ever significantly maintained membership in two: the Runic Union, and the long-defunct OAM.
Theodia's economy is a sort of regulated market gift economy. it is dominated by pineapple farming, which contributes to 100% of the national GDP. It has however been on a decline since 2011, when it produced aproximately $42 USD anually, and now produces less than $20 USD each year. The government has been generally unconcerned with this, as the current state of the nation's economy in general has never been seen as of particular importance, due to the country's very recent founding and current state of development.
To this date, there have been only two Theodian companies. Arrowe Games is an inactive video-game company, and was once developing an MMORPG named Quest for Power. The Theodian Times was a private news-company founded by Pairda, intended to release stories once a month about the current happenings of Theodia. Both were located in Terria.
It is planned to have Theodia's economy entirely online, and to use advanced statistics and incentivizing taxes, among other things, to optimize it. Also, two different currencies are planned, one of which specializes in the 'Store of Value' function, and the other in the 'Medium of Exchange' function. The latter will be backed by the former.
Notably, usury (defined in Theodia as all borrowing or lending at interest) is illegal, as are stock trading institutions. The country is also somewhat known for its use of a demurrage charge and its requirement that all non-scarce resources be gifted or given away.
The Republic of Theodia uses a unique devolutional scheme whose tiers are inspired by those of medieval feudal societies, with an ultimate focus on the barony and county levels. Notably, there is a tier called the realm, which pertains to an entire world. Currently, there are two realms: Terria (Earth), and Mentia (Minecraft). Theodia's devolutional scheme also has extensions for use in space, which treat normal realms within the same universe as space-baronies, or sparonies, and goes on from there. Territories without domicile Theodian citizens are considered "Provinces", and are treated as counties for devolutional purposes.
Terria consists currently of 1 barony and 3 provinces: The Barony of Neapolita, Amstria, Karia, and Nordia.
Mentia currently does not consist of any land, but will be the future home of the national capital, Lemuria.
Typically, locations in Theodian are written little endian (from big to small). For example: Theodia/Terria/Neapolita.
- List of territories within Terria
|Karia||Tinnakara, Lakshadweep, India||Province|
|Neapolita||Naples, Florida||Barony||Capital of Terria|
|Nordia||Crooked Lake, Minnesota||Province|

|Lemuria||None currently||Barony||Future capital of Theodia and Mentia|
The Republic of Theodia has its own unique culture.
Theodian society is absent gender-roles, as well as the concept of racialism. All Theodians are equal before the law, and each other.
Where ethnicity is concerned, all fully naturalized Theodians are considered by the state to be ethnically Theodian. Also, any groups seeking self-determination on ethnical grounds are likely to be appeased, as Theodia supports the right of a nation to self-determine itself.
Marriage is not generally practiced in Theodia, as the society is quite polyamorous (it is culturally acceptable to have romantic relationships with multiple people at the same time). As the saying goes, "You can love infinite people, to infinite degrees, in infinite ways."
Where sexuality is concerned, non-consensual sex, as well as sexual abuse in general (particularly of minors), is most certainly illegal, and is quite looked down upon.
Theodian cuisine generally focuses on foods which enhance the brain and body, and seeks to make them tasty.
Commonplace furniture in Theodia include floating beds, saddle chairs, and standing toilets.
Typical Theodian clothing differs somewhat from the clothing usually worn in western countries, and is composed generally of a mantle, a haubergeon, a waist-sash, a wide conical hat, and sandals.
For sports, Theodians enjoy battlegaming (the national sport), as well as soccer/football and archery.
Theodia uses base-twelve for its numbers, as opposed to the more common base-ten used by other societies.
Theodia uses the Ergonometric system of measurement, which is optimized for base-twelve mathematics and pays special attention to being ergonomic and relatable in daily activities.
Theodia uses special calendars based upon fiscal Thirds. Weeks are only four days long, with three work days and one weekend.
There are two main holidays each Third, one of which is on a scale comparable to the Western Christmas, and lasts a week; the other is a minor holiday, and occurs mid-Third, lasting a day. Tertiary holidays, such as independence day, are also present, though they typically have far fewer festivities.
Theodians are encouraged to learn and practice whatever spiritual beliefs they wish to practice, and a universal pantheon must be built in each town.
Naming practices in Theodia work such that each citizen has a Handle, a Nick, and a Short which they can change throughout their lives.
The two national languages of the Republic of Theodia are Theodian and English. Many citizens also are somewhat proficient in Spanish.
Theodian is a constructed language, or conlang, designed by undergraduate linguist Miles Huff to ease communication and enhance thought, while being as ergonomic as it can. It has been in development since 2010.
Theodian English is a dialect of English spoken within the Republic. It is very similar to Southwest-Floridian English, but with a few specific differences, such as its lack of gendered pronouns.
Early on in the creation of Theodia, Founder Swena set up an irregularly published national news-service and a YouTube channel that has posted only one video.
In early 2012, plans were made by Pairda to create a private news company in Theodia. One article was completed, but it was never released to the public, and the company ultimately failed. The original Wordpress site was deleted, and the article presumed lost. It was later found by Founder Swena in Google Docs, and was an interview with hirm by Pairda about the GOV programming language.
In mid-2012, a development blog was started so as to document progress made in Theodia in order to inform the world that Theodia was indeed very active. The blog's contributors gradually lost interest in the blog after its inception. There has been some talk of reviving it.
Theodia was included in Micronations: For Those Who Are Tired of Existing Incompetent Governments, a book by Mohammad Bahareth; and was featured in the Micro series. Theodia has also received some attention in intermicronational newsmedia.
