Neroli Laboratories is a science, engineering and media exectuive created and based in the Technological Federation of Erephisia. Due to severe funding shortages and lack of raw materials, Neroli Labs is known for its somewhat shoddy products, though some products have seen some success. Neroli Labs is a privatley owned organisation, and has seen little to no profit in it's time of existance, due to lack of output. Neroli Labs acts as the centre of technological development within Erephisia, and hopes to produce various products in future months.

History

As FEIoS

Neroli Labs was originally founded in 2007 as the Federal Erauqsi Institue of Science, during Erephisia's previous incarnation as Erauqs. FEIoS was inspired by the organisations mentioned in the "WipEout" racing video game series. FEIoS attempted to produce machines and robots not dissimilar to those found in the "Robot Wars" television series, however due to lack of funds many of these designs never came to fruition. Erephisian founder Billy Neil was the only consistent employee of FEIoS during the months that it existed in Erauqs. After the dissolution of Erauqs and the during formation of Erephisia, FEIoS was reformed as the Federal Erephisian Institute of Science, and acted, to a degree, as an intermediary in the formation of the dispirate Erephisian states (at this point the organisation had 3 employees). Later in the existence of Erephisia during 2010, and roughly around the time of the formation of the Kingdom of Smegola, FEIoS spawned an offshoot organisation known as SGH, a theme park ride design executive. With 4 employees, the output of SGH, at least within Erephisia, was quite high, with several designs being published by the company, however due to lack of resources, none of the designs ever came to fruition.

As W14

W14 was a greatly non-serious organisation created in the early days of Erephisia, claiming to exist to rid haunted and cursed houses of their paranormal activity. W14 never gained any great attention, and was dissolved eventually.

Formation into Neroli Labs

A Chronology of Neroli Labs (and predecessor) logos. From left to right: FEIoS logo, SGH Logo, Neroli Logo V.3 (current), Neroli Logo V.1, Neroli Logo V.2
Originally a fictional organisation created for use during Minecraft gameplay, Neroli Labs was made real in late February/early March 2012, composed unofficially of various organizations created in the early stages of Erephsia, such as FEIoS, W14, Madcat Records and Defy. Neroli OLabs was then properly founded as an organisation itself mid April 2012. Neroli Labs has had a greatly limited amount of success in it's time of existance, with most of it's projects slowly becoming inactive, or failing massively. Such an example of a greatly failing porject was the Neroli CD-1: a computer, which has became known in Erephisia for exploding when turned on. However, not all of Neroli Labs projects have been failures: a software synthesizer known as the Nerolibeep was produced by the company, and saw very positive critical response.

Facilities

While the company has no official buildings and facilities, Neroli Labs works primarily out of Droomvlucht and Hauptstadt in Erephisia (the latter being the location of the company's unofficial headquarters). Physical products are mainly manufactured in Droomvlucht, while software is primarily produced in Hauptstadt.

Nerolibeep is a freeware software synthesizer created by Billy Neil and released on the 16th of April 2012. It is notable for being Neroli Laboratories first original product, after the failure of the laboratories "CD-1" computer project. The software is very basic and minimal, in oppose to playing a dedicated .wav file when the keys are clicked, the synthesizer only plays a beep from the computer motherboard. This makes the software not work on some machines.

History

The original Nerolibeep software, accidentally nicknamed "Maze", was coded in 31 minutes and had a severely limited GUI, with only 12 keys and not a full octave of sound (the 13th key which would have completed the octave omitted due to coding issues). This version of Nerolibeep (0.1) has been rereleased with a full ocatev keyboard, also with a smaller GUI and more accurate note frequency tuning. Nerolibeep version 0.2 was coded in 26-28 minutes and had a friendlier, sleeker interface, with three full octaves available. However, the synthesizer remins using only motherboard beeps as its format. 0.2.1 followed soon after, and was little more then a bug fix. The software has been well received by it's users, noting it's odd preciseness and entertainment factor for such a small software. Nerolibeep 0.2.2 was released on the 17th of April 2012, with a 4 octave keyboard and a newsfeed on the lower panel of the program.

Future Versions

Nerolibeep 0.3 has been stated as going to contain dedicated sound samples and a keyboard-and-click interface in oppose to solely a click interface, but will take far longer then the previous Nerolibeeps to code.

Criticism

Although some of the company's products are usually less-then-perfect quality, recption of the few products released that work have been good.
